About Academy

What is it?

We believe the good news of Jesus must be shared with truth and with tears; with creativity and compassion. If you do too, Message Academy could be for you.

ACADEMY IS A PLACE TO EXPLORE AND GROW THE CALL OF THE EVANGELIST.

If you want to grow, understand the gospel deeper, be challenged, gain new experiences and go further in your relationship with God, join us to discover all that God has in store for you.
While on Message Academy you’ll have many opportunities to proclaim and demonstrate the gospel throughout the year. By receiving teaching from excellent tutors from within the Message Trust and our partner organisations, you’ll be trained and resourced to go into different environments to share the good news of Jesus. Using what you’ve learnt you’ll take the gospel to youth groups, schools, prisons and communities across the UK.

Over the last twenty-five years, The Message Trust has pioneered groundbreaking youth ministry. We're where The Tribe, LZ7 and Twelve24 all found their voice, and the place where Eden, our radical approach to urban mission, was planted. What is an evangelist?

As Christians we want everyone to discover the love of God for themselves and to see God’s perfect kingdom restored. For this reason, we all have a role to play in witness and evangelism. But there are some who are specifically called to prioritise preaching the gospel.

The Message Academy is all about growing that call of the evangelist and developing your gifts. Preparing you and giving you the chance to take the news of Jesus wherever you go – whether that’s on a platform in front of a large crowd or sharing with a neighbour.

Nothing big or scary – an evangelist is someone who has a heart for sharing Jesus with others.

What's involved?

During this gap year, what we offer is the opportunity to be immersed in a culture that creates and cultivates innovative mission. During the first four months, you will receive teaching and training (looking at topics ranging from 'The Heart of an Evangelist' to Old and New Testament), as well as workshops in Youth Work and Justice and the option of practical tuition in your creative gifts. It’s an intensive time of investment in you that will spark your imagination to the possibilities for what God can do through you.

During the final six months, you will be encouraged to innovate your own ideas and outreach projects, as well as working alongside our existing teams to deliver the gospel in a variety of ways through schools, youth clubs and on the streets. Whether you are into music, drama, extreme sports or academic sparring, Manchester is the perfect place to hone your talents and gifts and put them into practice.
